Humorous Speech Contest

The Humorous Speech Contest was held on Thursday, September 25, 2003.  A very fun meeting for all.  Contest Chairperson, Marilyn Mahoney, organized and directed the event which went quite smoothly.  Our Area A4 Governor, Mary Yebba, joined in the fun for an enjoyable evening.

Club participants were Robert Isenberg, James Tau, Scott Humphries, Lee Yates and Rich Levesque.  All speakers did a great job and made us laugh.  It was tough to decide a winner.

However, the judges (Joan Turnberg, Jeremy Szteiter, Joyce Matteson, Bill McGowan, and Al Rowe) worked diligently to decide who would represent The Last Word Toastmasters at the Area A4 Humorous Speech Contest to be held in two weeks.  The results are as follows:

1st Place:  Lee Yates

2nd Place:  Scott Humphries

3rd Place:  James Tau

Lee will represent The Last Word Toastmasters on October 9.  In the event Lee cannot make the event, Scott will represent the club.  All are welcome to attend the event and cheer for Lee.  GO LEE!!

Helpful Hints

Toastmasters - Please include the speaker’s speech number and allotted time on the agenda.  Table Topics should finish at 8:00 pm.

Timer – Be visible by sitting in the back row middle aisle.  Keep card visible until speaker sees card.

Not everyone has e-mail

Please remember to call members who do not have e-mail when you have positions open on the agenda.  We tend to use the most convenient method and just e-mail, forgetting that not everyone who would like to participate has the luxury of a computer or e-mail.  It may seem a necessity to many, but not everyone has access.  The most recent roster is available now.
