Exceptional leaders have one distinct quality: enthusiasm!
The “Last Word” club has seven enthusiastic officers and two experienced
consultants desiring the same goals. We are dedicated to our members in
creating an environment that is conducive to learning, sharing, and mastering
the fear of public speaking. We want to serve as examples to members in our
excitement, eagerness, and passion for achieving the goals established by
Toastmasters International. Together we are committed to learning the ability
to think and speak on our feet; to be happy and have fun in a teaching
atmosphere; to be positive and confident; and to listen to others when they
speak. We come together at Toastmaster meetings to help each other achieve
goals that will forever change our lives. What is in it for us? The knowledge that we, as officers, have helped members overpower
the fear of public speaking. If it is true that good leaders are
enthusiastic, then the dedicated officers and consultants of the “Last Word”
club will succeed in accomplishing these goals.
Officers were sworn in on July 10 by Lee Yates the outgoing
area governor. Rich Levesque looks forward
to an exciting year as President of The Last Word Toastmasters Club. A mix of old and new members comprise the new
club officers. The new officers will
offer a fresh face and new enthusiasm for the club. Please welcome these new officers and feel
free to offer your comments or suggestions to improve the club. Consultant Ruth Farrey
will be assisting Sally with public relations.
And Lee Yates will be offering her wealth of knowledge as Club Advisor.

Our sergeant-at-arms, Steve James,
is ready to take his new job seriously.
He has graciously created elegant nametags for all members. You can pick up your nametag at the entrance
door. Please remember to drop off the
nametags before you leave as Steve will collect and bring the nametags to every
meeting. Thank you, Steve.
Our new VP of Public Relations,
Sally Willard, is working on a Toastmasters video to air on Burlington Cable
TV.
Also check your local newspapers
for news and events on our Toastmaster’s club.
We have asked the new District 31
instructor, Hank Fleming, DTM, to conduct a 20 minute expert training session
on speech evaluations. Look for meeting
date to be posted later.
Please include the speaker’s
speech number and allotted time on the agenda.
It is helpful to the members to know this information.
Please remember to call members
who do not have e-mail when you have positions open on the agenda. We tend to use the most convenient method and just e-mail, forgetting that
not everyone who would like to participate has the luxury of a computer or
e-mail. It may seem a necessity to many,
but not everyone has access. The most
recent roster is available now.
Calendar
The Last Word Toastmasters club
meets at 7:00pm at the Burlington Library, 22 Sears St., Burlington, MA on the
2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month except holidays.
Guests are welcome at every meeting.
